This fruit is not good for grinding as it lacks Elemental Reflex and its moves may be hard to hit. On the other hand, it is an excellent fruit for PvP when awakened due to its stuns, damage, and hitboxes. To take advantage of the fruit's power, the player must be relatively skilled.

The following results are tested on NPCs. The variables that were used to test include: 600 mastery, 2550 points on Fruit Stats and no accessories. The results are for reference only, there is no guarantee that all of them are 100% correct.
Spider X, both awakened and unawakened, has decent stunning capabilities.
The unawakened F move (Spider Path) is a relatively fast flight, and can quickly cover a large distance if aimed upwards.
Very good for killing Bosses as it deals high damage and has good stuns.
C move (unawakened) has one of the farthest range in the game (best range being Pain moves).
High combo potential (awakened).
The unawakened Spider's C and V moves can break Instinct. Awakened Spider's X, C, and V moves all break Instinct. This means almost every single move of Awakened Spider can break Instinct.
The unawakened C move leaves a tripwire effect for 2 seconds after launching, that upon touching will still inflict the damage.
The further the enemy is, the more damage the unawakened C move will deal, which is good for sniping, kill stealing, etc.
Spider Highway is a decent mobility move
Spider awakened C is a great alternative to awakened Dough V.
Hard to instinct trick when close range (Heavenly Punishment)
Unawakened Spider has tiny hitboxes, making it very hard to hit moves in PvP (the exception being Ultimate Thread; however, players will likely be punished for missing due to its huge end-lag).
Although awakened Spider has really good damage, almost all moves need to be held to execute their full damage, and all the moves can be canceled with DoT, aka Damage over Time (example: Venom's poison damage, Dragon and Spirit's burn damage). This is a similarity that is shared with the Dark fruit, and any fruit that has moves that need to be held.
This fruit has high Fragments requirements to awaken and its raid is moderately hard for low-level players.
The unawakened Z and X moves have bad range and small hitboxes, making them very easy to dodge.
Water does damage, like all other Fruits (except Ice and Magma v2), unless you are of the Shark race.
The unawakened V move has high end-lag.
Some moves have high startup and/or end-lag, as exampled above with unawakened V.
Can be countered easily if the user is inexperienced or isn't too skilled with Combos.
Requires good aim to use well in PvP.
Compared to other fruits, unawakened Spider does not perform well in air fights.
Is not an elemental fruit, meaning it does not provide Elemental Immunity for grinding.
Spider has another version aside from the awakened and unawakened version. However, this version is only available to the second stage of the Don Swan boss. It is an improved Spider V and X, the V is that he can create a triple version of the unawakened V, tripling the range, AoE and damage in the process, and the X shoots more Multi-String Attacks in an X pattern. However, due to this version being only available to a boss, it is impossible to find out whether there's any other differences.
